Durham Business Group – Sales & Marketing Executive
20 hours per week
Salary: £22,000 pro rata

Holiday: 28 days per annum pro rata, including Bank Holidays, rising incrementally to 38 days over 10 years

Responsible to: CEO, Durham Business Group

Purpose: To work with the CEO to continue to build on the 40 year reputation of the organisation, for the development and delivery which focuses on the needs and requirements of members and clients.

To retain existing members and to attract, a new, broader membership, with the objective of growing numbers over the next twelve months.

Key Responsibilities

  • In Durham Business Club, to help maintain an effective membership service, to grow the membership to achieve department and company objectives and ensure members are fully conversant with the services and activities of the whole company
  • In Durham Office Services, to ensure synergies are maximised between the two parts of the Group business, and introduce clients to all our products and services
  • Recruitment of new businesses to DBG, members, tenants and clients
  • To assist the CEO in the smooth running, promotion and sponsorship of DBC and Executive Group events, and attend events, actively networking and help manage the organisation of DGB 40th Awards Dinner in 2022.

Person Specification

Essential

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, confident in networking
  • At least three years experience in a business development role
  • Strong organisational skills with attention to detail
  • Enthusiasm and pride in ensuring work completed to high standard
  • Confident in working with Microsoft Office and other systems
  • Represent DBG values: friendly and approachable; being supportive; helping each other; and building trust

Desirable

  • Knowledge of regional business networks and understanding of SME drivers
  • Knowledge of funding opportunities and bid writing

Key tasks & responsibilities:

General

  • Explore ways of developing synergies across the Club and Office Services.
  • Assist in the running and promotion of events (including evenings) ensuring good numbers of members and guests
  • Actively recruiting new members growing the membership in line with strategy
  • Help to maintain and develop suitable social media presence to support business activities.
  • Work with the team to ensure all administrative tasks associated with Club Members are managed.
  • Cover for staff as necessary in the case of absence and holiday or in busy periods.

Business Club

  • Manage and develop the membership to achieve department and company objectives within agreed budgets.
  • Grow membership in line with strategy.
  • Organise monthly member meetings and special events, including achievement of event sponsorship, including the 40th Anniversary Awards Dinner (2022)
  • Attend business events and exhibitions to represent the Group, raise its profile and source new clients, members and contacts.

Office Services

  • Ensure professional service is provided to all types of clients, including appropriate communication.
  • Source new tenants when office space becomes available.
  • Ensure Office Service users are aware of Business Club activities.

Key outputs:

  • 2 DBC events per month
  • New Business Club members
  • New Executive Group members
  • New office service clients
  • Sponsorship and planning of DBG 40th Awards Dinner (2022)
